Welcome to Whatcom Day Academy’s website. Although digital technology is a wonderful thing and you will find a lot of information about the school on this website, it isn’t the same as being here. I hope that some day you come to the school for a visit so that I may greet you in person, and you are able to experience the welcoming, comfortable and joyful learning atmosphere that permeates the school. Visitors frequently notice that they hear children’s laughter and singing, that staff and children treat each other with respect, and that everyone is engaged in learning.

Within our nurturing community, the children thrive and develop the confidence to meet, and often exceed, the demands of the challenging academic opportunities that we provide. One student commented, after working for months on a difficult science inquiry project, "Now I know I can do more than I thought I could." These are goals we have for all our students: that they exceed their own expectations; that they stretch their own limits; and that they emerge knowing more about themselves. Our graduates are known among the local high schools as people who are of strong character and clear values, engaged in their own learning, and willing to help others.

We want each of our students to be successful in their own life and also to actively contribute to a better community for everyone. Citizenship and community service are important themes woven into our daily routines and throughout the curriculum.
